The Streets are Calling

The Streets are Calling
I failed, once again
Attempting to love, burying myself knee-high
Even when cuddling felt eerily similar to suffocation
I managed to hold my breath
Made myself think happy thoughts
But here I am, wondering
Is this all there is? Is this how it's supposed to be?
Do I have to stay and compromise?

Streets are calling
Screaming all the options
And freedom from suffocation
Where everything is unlimited including action
Ultimate fun with minimal repercussion

Streets are calling
The best proposal yet is variety
The talk dark and handsome
The bald and full hair
I can have them all
No need to choose
Settling isn’t even a possibility
The choices are endless
The fun so unlimited

Streets are calling
Streets want me back
For adventure of a lifetime
Wild nights with my best friends
Waking up next to someone I won't see again
Blackout drunken nights
Bold kisses I blow to strangers
Innumerable winks I get in return

I hear the call, I heed the call
I'm confused
What do I do?
Do I really belong to the streets
Where everything is unpredictable
Or do I need a structure
Someone I call home
Where it all comes together

I hear the call
Deep within myself
Urging to be felt
Telling me
Get your ass back inside
Streets aren't safe for you
It'll do nothing but leave you hollow inside
It seems fun in theory, the voice tells me
But fulfilment will elude you
You'll do nothing but wander
With no centre
